How to spot it
Leaves mottled light and dark green or yellow like a mosaic, often puckered, curled, or narrow. Plants are stunted, and fruit can be bumpy or streaked.
What it does
There's no cure, and harvests fall.
What to do now
- Pull and throw away infected plants.
- Wash your hands and tools before touching healthy plants.
Keep it away next time
- Control aphids, which spread cucumber mosaic, with row cover and reflective mulch.
- Grow resistant varieties (look for "CMV," "TMV," or "BCMV").
- Wash your hands after handling tobacco before working with tomatoes and peppers.
